1368 Sqn Youth First Aid (YFA) course, 29-30 Sep 2024

Well done to the 20 cadets from 1368 Sqn who attended Youth First Aid course last weekend. Massive step forward for Sqn to have so many participating. Amazing help provided by 2286 Sqn. Enjoyable practical sessions with strong engagement and interest from cadets. 




First Aid training and delivery is detailed in ACTO 008. The RAFAC has entered a partnership, with the other cadet forces, and St John Ambulance (SJA). This enables the RAFAC to offer First Aid Trg from Essential First Aid (EFA), Youth First Aid (YFA) up to Activity First Aid (AFA). First Aid Trg is mandatory for all cadets and CFAVs. Within the first six months of joining the Sqn, Cadets and CFAV must complete the EFA programme. Cadets should complete the YFA programme within an eighteen-month period.

AP818 - RAF Drill and Ceremonial Manual for Air Cadets

Last week, the cadets did some drill practice, partly in readiness for parades that are coming up, partly to give new prospective NCOs some experience "at the front" and also to sharpen up Squadron discipline. Drill is a powerful aid to discipline. It develops a sense of corporate pride, alertness, precision and readiness to obey orders instantly. Good drill in aircraft is directly fostered by the habit of drilling smartly on parade. Thus, smartness on parade is not only a sign of good discipline, but a basic factor in raising the standard of performance in duties. Back in the (really) old days, the Air Cadets used to have its own Air Cadet drill manual. Nowadays this is all gone. The RAFAC aligns wholly to the RAF Drill manual called AP818 .
